Letter from Fr. Gallagher: Maintaining Your Spiritual Life in This Time of Crisis

My Dear Parishioners,

Due to the serious concern for public health at this critical time, Archbishop Gregory has decided to cancel all Masses in the Archdiocese of Washington until further notice. While you cannot participate in Mass, I encourage you to maintain your spiritual life by even more dedication to daily prayer. Daily time spent in silence with God is crucial to maintaining our peace and serenity during this global crisis. Please also remember to pray for the healing of all who have Coronavirus and for the protection of all who help them. Even though you cannot receive Holy Communion regularly at this time, you can still grow in Eucharistic devotion and piety by making Spiritual Communions by saying the prayer below.

I encourage you to still make your Lenten Confession at Immaculate Conception during the times listed.

The updated schedule for Immaculate Conception is below. Our office will remain open during normal hours so please contact us if you need assistance.

In the Lord,
Fr. Charlie Gallagher

What to do in Place of In-Person Mass?

1. Stream a Mass Online.
EWTN has live-streamed masses on Sunday at 8:00am ET, with a replay at 12:00pm ET. Find their full schedule of programming here.
2. Consider a Prayer of Spiritual Communion
When you cannot receive Communion in-person, saying the prayer of Spiritual Communion can be an equally powerful way to receive Jesus. Learn more about the practice here, and find the text below.
My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separate from You.
Amen.
